Dr. Sayem Ahmed is a Scientific Adviser at HRD. He has a PhD in health economics from Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. He has worked at the University of Glasgow in the UK, the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) in Vietnam, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) in the UK, and icddr,b in Bangladesh. He has also served as a consultant for the World Health Organization, The World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank. From 2012 to 2015, he was a member of the Bangladesh National Health Account cell at the Health Economics Unit of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in Bangladesh.
Dr. Ahmed’s research focuses on estimating the health economic burden and conducting economic evaluations of new health technologies and interventions. Additionally, he has conducted research on health insurance, healthcare financing, universal health coverage, and health system efficiency in low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Ahmed provides scientific and technical guidance, expertise, and oversight support to HRD.
